INTRODUCTION

General Introduction

        SEAMEO Regional Center for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED) was established by SEAMEO Council on 25 July 2017 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The establishment of SEAMEO TED is to support the priority area number 4 of the 7 Priority Areas of SEAMEO Countries which is Promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) among learners, through more visible investments in the field, and improving relevance of the curricula to focus on creativity and innovation.

        SEAMEO TED is one of 26 SEAMEO Centers in Southeast Asia to assist SEAMEO Member Countries in identifying technical education problems and finding alternative solutions for sustainable human resource development through networking and partnership. SEAMEO TED covers three main tasks namely research and development, technical education and training, and public relations and partnership at secondary level in Southeast Asia.

         To support the regional programmes and activities, SEAMEO TED has initiated to establish a SEA Vocational-Technical High School network that shall be feasible as a forum for school leaders, experts, researchers, academics, and stakeholders in the field of vocational-technical education and training in secondary level from SEAMEO Member Countries and other region. Through this network, all members are able to give inputs, feedback and suggestions for mutual benefit and sharing. This network has become one of the platforms for vocational-technical high schools in Southeast Asia to give feedback and input for more comprehensive discussion among SEAMEO TED’s stakeholders on providing what is best for the interest of vocatioanl-techncial education develoment and partnership.

        Currently, the network consists of 72 participating vocational-technical high schools, which was nominated by SEAMEO countries, some of which registed by themselves. The 72 network members remarkably covers on 6114 teachers and 102281 students from 10 SEAMEO Member countries including Brunei Darussalam (2), Cambodia (12), Indonesia (19), Laos (2), Malaysia (8), Myanmar (5), the Philippines(17), Singapore (1), Thailand (5), and Timor Lest (1). The participating schools are providing technical and vocational education and training at secondary level in the following priority areas Mechanics/Electronics and Manufacturing, Agriculture/Fisheries/Animal Science, Computer Science/Informatics, Hospitality and Tourism and Automobiles.The participating schools are providing technical and vocational education and training at secondary level in the following priority areas: :

Mission

        The establishment of this network is to enable all members from technical-vocational high schools in the region to create partnership by sharing and providing inputs, feedback and suggestions for mutual benefits to promote the quality and relevance of technical education.

        This network will be the platform for vocational-technical high schools in the region to learn and prosper together.

Goals

  • To share information and experiences among vocational-technical schools among the members

  • To learn from successful and best practices among vocational-technical high school in Southeast Asia

  • To promote capacity building and regional understating among technical high schools

  • To strengthen and expand collaborations between vocational- technical high schools

  • To promote a SEA-Vocational Family among the members in the region

  • To cooperate in research project implementation and publication conference or symposiums

ONLINE COURSE
        The Southeast Asian region has considered Technical and vocational education and training networking as an important issue and the process of cooperation among the vocational and technical institutions in the region moves slowly and faces difficulty.
        In order to promote the communication and development of Vocational Education in ASEAN countries,SEAMEO TED has set up SEA Vocational-Technical High School Network to share educational resources and provide a platform to promote the development of technical education.
        The online courses are provided by China-ASEAN Technical Education Cooperation Platform. Online courses include the following fields:

●Mechanics/Electronics and Manufacturing

●Agriculture/Fisheries/ Animal Science

●Computer Science/IT/ Informatics

●Hospitality and Tourism
CERTIFICATE
        SEA Vocational-Technical High School Network provides online and offline training in the field of vocational-technical education.
        After the training, trainees can obtain the certificate issued by China-ASEAN Technical Education Cooperation Platform. Each certificate has a unique code, and China-ASEAN Technical Education Cooperation Platform provides certificate verification service.
